Monday, March 31st, 2008

In Moncton, Mrs. Fogarty’s grade 7 class at Riverview Middle School presented AMJ Campbell with almost 50 cell phones! Marsha and Amanda from AMJ Moncton accepted the phones and presented the class with a Pizza Party. Special thanks go out to Kailey who collected 20 phones herself.   Thank you Riverview Middle for making the effort to support our troops and making this program a success. riverview-middle-003.JPG

Ian Millar’s wife passes away

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Lynn Millar, wife of Canada’s most frequent Olympian, Ian Millar, died Thursday following a long illness, at the family’s Millar Brooke Farm in Perth, Ontario.  Ian and his family have been associated with AMJ Campbell for many years and our condolences go out to him and his family.

Lynn and Ian were married since 1969. She was a devoted mother of Amy 31, and Jonathon 33.

She was by the side of her horseman husband, assisting with the training for eight Olympic Games, eight Pan American Games and six World Championships and witnessed him receive the Order of Canada and induction into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.

“This has been a long battle and is a very, very sad, tragic day for us”, Ian Millar said in a statement released by the family. “I would love more than anything to have Lynn by my side if I am asked to ride at this year’s Olympic Games”, but he added that he does not plan on withdrawing himself from contention for that team. “Amy, Jonathon and I will move forward. That is the only way Lynn would want it.”

AMJ and the 2008 Brier

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Canada’s other national sport celebrates its Men’s Curling Championships this coming week at the 2008 Brier in Winnipeg.  AMJ Campbell is a national sponsor as well as a local sponsor.  We will be all over the television coverage with our in-arena TV signage and our commercial will run 58 times throughout the week both on TSN and CBC.  Please note the promotional offer at the conclusion of our TV spot where we are offering a bonus $50 Sears Cash Card when someone books with us prior to May 31st and pays for their move on their Sears card. This promotion is fully funded by Sears and the updated TV spot is attached for your reference.

In arena at the Brier, the AMJ Campbell Move of the Game will take place at all draws, we have our trade show booth set up in the concourse and two of the team’s we sponsor: Kevin Martin from Alberta (5 time Brier Representative, winner once and Olympic Silver Medalist) and Jean Michel Menard (2nd trip to Brier, won in 2006) from Quebec will be competing to represent Canada at the World Championships.  Our other famous curler we are involved with both by sponsoring his team and by his partnership in AMJ Moncton is 13 time Brier Representative, two time World Champion and Olympic Gold Medal Winner Russ Howard.  Russ will be at the Brier doing color commentary throughout the week on TSN.  Needless to say AMJ will have great exposure all week long both locally in Winnipeg and across the country on TV.  We are very proud of our association with curling and especially this national icon, the Brier!  Enjoy the games!

This year’s Crocus Sale was a complete success for the CNIB, as they sold an astounding 100,000 plants across Ontario.  Staff members at AMJ Campbell delivered nearly 700 boxes or 14,000 plants this year.  Congratulations to all who participated.
